As Guest Speaker, Paul McFadden, Chief Executive, McFadden Homes delivered an inspiring address. Known for his best-selling books and international speaking engagements, Paul shared his journey from modest beginnings to building a multi-million-pound property portfolio. His message of resilience, resourcefulness, and ambition resonated strongly with the graduates.
Kayleigh Hunter was named º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Perth’s Student of the Year for her exceptional academic performance and personal resilience. Graduating with a BA (Hons) in Childhood Practice, Kayleigh began her studies with a Level 6 qualification and overcame significant challenges - including personal adversity and caregiving responsibilities - while maintaining academic excellence. Her journey included supporting her father through a terminal illness, rebuilding her life after an abusive relationship, and raising hundreds of pounds for Stand Up to Cancer - all while completing her dissertation. Her story is a testament to perseverance and compassion, and she has become a valued advocate for her programme and peers across the º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ partnership.
Other inspiring stories celebrated at this year’s ceremony included Curtis Hirst, who graduated with a BA (Hons) Theatre Industry Practice (First Class) and was awarded the º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Sporting Blue – Honorary Blue for Archery in recognition of his outstanding contribution and dedication to the sport. A long-time archer, he regularly serves as a results manager at Scottish Archery events and is the Event Director for the Orkney Island Games. Recently, Curtis achieved the highest level of officiating in the UK, becoming an Archery GB National Judge. This summer, he will travel to Canada to officiate at the World Archery Youth Championships – a remarkable achievement and honour.
Christopher Kaan Caudwell, HND Computer Science, was also celebrated for his recent accolades. Christopher received the Scottish Qualifications Authority Student Award for º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Perth, recognising his academic excellence and contributions to his field. Although unable to attend the ceremony due to a scheduling conflict with another awards event, his achievements were warmly acknowledged.
The Graduation and Celebration of Achievement of º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates was followed by SQA Certificates and Diplomas and Awards for Individual Achievement. Addresses were delivered by Mr Alistair Wylie, Interim Chair of the Board of Management, and Dr Chris Lusk, Senior Independent Board Member.
Alexandra Cameron, who graduated with a BA (Hons) Sociology and Politics (First Class) and was named º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Perth Student Research of the Year.
